Shopping for a new sign...

My Sign Saga....

Many of my regulars know all about my sign drama and probably others of you have seen the post that has been loitering at the top of the weblog on the store site about the frozen ground.  So last night (on my birthday - mind you ) we spend the majority of the evening trolling the pipe isles of the local building supply store.  If this was boring to me, imagine how it was for our 8 year old dd.  After a cute conversation with the help on that isle (really nice gentleman that was a machinist by trade)  we have all our gear in hand and are ready to check out. 

I have to tell you that I am a bit leary about the whole thing.  My DH and the landlord ( a builder by profession) have concocted this course of action to help me be able to get the sign in the ground during the winter frozen months.  After having the proceedure carefully explained and pictures drawn (so I can get a 'visual') I gave the ok.  The plan  includes some nifty extensions that should help propel the signage up above the cars that park curbside.   All this with the great desire on my part for people to be able to find me.

Since having this little business I have been ever so impressed on the importance of good signage and the ability for people to be able to see where you are.   A few local restrictions have not made this easy on me.  Add this to the fact that signage is darn expensive and much of my stress has come from trying to get this just right and legal.

Construction begins this afternoon.  So....look for the sign again - up higher !!  and in its place all year round.  Wish us luck.  Time will tell when the snows come if the place holders that will be put into the ground will be accessable.  But I have high hopes for this - at least when there isn't snow.  Trying to shove the triangulared legs of a metal sign into frozen earth is not high on my list first thing in the AM when I am still frozen from my treck across town (its a blessing we live close to the shop  - but in the winter that means I'm at work before the vehicle is warm - let alone ME! ;).

And thanks DH! for standing out in the cold today to get this situation a little aid.  Hurry over so you can get started.  Its actually 37 degrees here today (compared to the 22 you would have had to deal with yesterday) .  Glad we waited.


UPDATE:  It Worked!!!   Its a little weird carrying out these long black poles - but hey -- at least my sign is back up.  First person to stop by the shop and talk to me about the sign will receive a special gift!

My New Toy!

It's not really new, but its not one of my regulars that I have used for years.  I've actually only owned if a short while and like a lot of things, have left it on the shelf more than in my work area.  But last week, when I was going mini-book crazy again (as I sometimes do) I pulled it out and found a ton of fun things online to do with it. 

Besides 3 mini books, I made a triangular gift box (could be an ornament if made smaller) and a gift bac from an envelope!

Little Mini's

I have always loved little mini albums.  Since I started my scrapbooking business as an event retailer/vendor I have spent hours creating every kind of little mini album I can figure out how to create.

When the Bind-it-All came out I was in absolute heaven.  I love all the things you can do with it (and it only got better when it came in pink LOL!!).

This week is all about mini's again.  I have put out in the shop several  mini albums.  One, in fact, that can be made from one sheet of paper.  Its a perfect little pocket book for notes,  for a series of little gift cards for some one on your gift list,  or for you to organize your shopping or coupon planning.  Make one for the grandma's and have everyones picture in a pocket along with a little holiday wish just from them to gram.

Call the shop or come by and schedule a private class.  It doesn't take too long and you can make the pocket book and go home and embellish it in 20 minutes you have a cute, hand-made gift.

Christmas Songs and a Special Thank You!

I love Christmas music, as a rule.  There are some that aren't my favorite like that repatitive 12 Days of Christmas.  However, the 12 Days of Christmas does make a great song to turn in to great holiday sales promo.  Have you been watching the store site?  So far this week we have had papers, embellishments, kits and now Tim Holtz products on sale.  Each day it is something different and each day it is 15-25% off.   Its our way to give back to you this Christmas for all of your great support during the year.

We are so very grateful for all of our wonderful customers.  It is so true in this business that we become great friends, almost family.  With all of the downturns in the economy and stores closing all around us, we feel very blessed to be able to look forward to another year and to bringing you more scrapbooking and stamping projects and goodies to fuel your creative fire.  We feel very blessed to be able to continue to grow and build.  In order to do that we do need your continued support.  We appreciate very much those of you who have made Scrap-To-It! part of your personal 'stimulus plan.'  What an awesome vote of confidence and loyalty.  Please know that we want to do everything we can to live up to that.

Its Officially Christmas!

Well, its officially December so that means its Christmas.  The lights are up around the neighborhood and town.  Its ok to play 'that' music louder now (I know a few of us have been sneaking it in here and there the past couple of days).  Stamps can go on the Christmas cards now that we've had sitting on the desk waiting for December.  And the countdown begins...

Journaling December - Prep Work

I have been pondering what to use for the past couple of days and have decided on altering a composition book.  I figure if I get out of control - as I sometimes tend to do, I can slice the book and bind it with rings or in my bind-it-all.

A Scrap-To-It! Take On Journaling December


I just love December - the whole month is one big celebration for me.  The anticipation of each little part of getting ready for the holidays.  The shopping, decorating, baking, wrapping and cooking are all noteworthy. Each year I have kept a record of what I do or at least my plans.  This year I have been inspired to go one step further and take on Ali E.'s project idea for December Daily.  In typical STI! style we will be creating a mini-album. 

The album will feature 31 pages to journal, add pictures, calendars, planners, to-do lists and anything else we can dream up to capture Christmas 2009. 

Join me on a journey through December.  We'll create and inspire as we work together on a project that is sure to be a family treasure.

I love the fall, the leaves and the colors are breathtaking.  This year, however, ALL of the fall seems to have fallen in my backyard.  This picture doesn't even do it justice from my kitchen window perspective.  To the right and left of me are neighbors with leaf-lessly green lawns.  It seems as though the woods have decided that I am to be the host for the leaf party they are throwing this season

Add to this the rain  and ugh!! 
I love fall!

Thanks to all for the great summer sale

Last week we had some great visits with old friends and customers and with our regular ones as well. Our Dog Days of summer sale was a great success -- thank you to all who stopped by and got some great deals on papers and kits and other items. We're thinking of repeating the promotion again towards the end of the year so that we don't have to inventory so much. Watch the newsletter for more details as the year draws to a close.

Our website is still 'under construction' as our web developer postponned her labors on our site to move. We hope she is getting settled in and enjoying her new home. We're looking forward to showing off the new site soon. In the meantime, we'll be using the blog for details on the store events.

Card Class Update: We are looking to get a head count on those interested in our Thursday night card class that we would like to begin next month. Our day class has been so successful that we are opening up a second group for those who can't make the day class. If you'd like to join our card class - please e-mail me to sign up.

GNOC: Our Friday Crop is scheduled for 6:30 this Friday. We already have a few signed up, but may have space available. If you'd like to join our crop group. E-mail us to check on the current seating availability.

Classes for September: We are working on our class calendar and will have that in our next e-newsletter. Watch your inbox for those details.

Now that school is back in session we can begin to get all those summer photos scrapped and plans made for holiday crafting projects. Let Scrap-To-It! help with those. We offer table time each day classes are not scheduled. $5.00/day form 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Use of tools (excluding cricut machine) are included. Our Friday crop is $8.00 and our Saturday crop is $10.00. Call the day before to reserve your space. This month's Friday Crop is 8/28 and our Saturday crop is 8/29.

Changes and Updates!

About every few years Scrap-To-It! gets a new look. Like a fresh coat of cyber paint. Its that time of year again. If you have been checking out the website and wondering what all the funky little characters are --- well now you know. Bear with us for a little longer and we'll have everything back in shape and pages loading correctly.

Along with all the updates that will bring my site into the current time (my wordpress was sadly behind) we will be linking our blogger to our main site. You'll now have two places to read all my crazy ramblings or to find the deals, coupons, product announcements, class ideas and schedules and any of the little things that go on at STI! Happy Birthday America!

Is it irony that we woke up today on the day we celebrate our independence to rain (tears from Heaven)? I wonder. I have always had a stong patriotic heart. I have studied and read the lives of our founding fathers and taught from primary sources the greatness of their lives to my students. It is always exciting to think about July 4th, but I wonder today, how far we have come from the freedoms that were intended for us to possess by those who were there at the inception of our country.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. ~ The Declaration of Independence July 4, 1776
Today I wish for all a day of celebration, regardless of what weather your day is met with, may all the important things, the experiences that really matter be celebrated this day. Celebrate the people in your lives; family and friends, young and old. And of course, don’t forget to capture a part of this on film to record for those who will come behind. Many of what was good from the days of our parents has been lost. What will our kids loose? I hope today is more than fireworks, hot dogs and hamburgers and as much about gratitude and prayers for our great country and those who are in office now as leaders. May they all be true to that stewardship.

National Scrapbook Day at STI!

We love to celebrate and May is good month for celebrating. National Scrapbook Day, Mother's Day, Memorial Day....and just because. At STI! we'll be celebrating the whole month long. This past weekend we posted a little offer on the website. Several people saw it and were able to take advantage of the beginning of our NSD promotions.

NSD STI! style continues as we go into this week of May. Friday May 8th we'll be having a Chocolate Crop and on Saturday May 9th we'll be doing product demo MNTs in the store.

Snowing on Scrap-To-It!


This is actually the back property of my home. Its stunning out there today with the sun hitting the ice crystals and the snow, at present, undisturbed after its falling to the earth. I love having this view to gaze upon. I hope I didn't miss anyone at the store today. The phones have been fairly quiet. I guess you are all doing what we did today -- shovel, shovel and shovel. While this is nothing compared to the other places I have lived that get much more snow -- its enough to give us a nice lovely white coating to the part of the world we look at -- at least for a short time!

Pics from my Page of the Month Club







I totally need to figure out how to get the pics in here where I want them...but today I'm too busy to play because I have a customer's project to finish before class. I'll just explain and then try again next time.
The theme of the layout is -"My 10 Favorites." These are a few of mine.
The first two are my favorite haunts (don't shoot me -- but yes, I love Wallies!!)
I don't think my DS likes it that Bread Company is my favorite haunt now that he works at the one I frequent. But hey -- 'whatever'!! Let his friends think I'm weird. Their food is way better than M's down the road or Jack in the???
The flower is a Tuber Rose. Oh man! If you've not had the pleasure of one of these in your bathroom during a hot shower --- it needs to be added to your 'to-do before I die' list. These were a special treat I'd get for myself at the little flower shop I worked at in California. The smell is so magnificent that it was a little luxury that made a bad day or bad week or a 'just for the heck of it' that much better!
The last one is a picture of fudge. Need I say more?????? I own a small fudge company along with Scrap-To-It! Its some dang good fudge -- if I do say so myself. And if I had the money and time and my little DD was older -- I'd make fudge all day instead of scrapbook....well..maybe not all day...but you know what I mean!
